Elections chief to outsource processing of absentee ballots


NEW PORT RICHEY - With estimated savings of up to $50,000 during election years, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley cast his vote to outsource absentee ballots to a private company. Absentee Ballot Solutions will take over the chores that Corley's staff had been handling.

"The voters will see no difference," Corley said. "It's tough giving up the reins," he said. But Absentee Ballot Solutions has a good reputation, he said.

"The automation will assist with quality control of outgoing ballots," Corley said. "It's a win-win." The supervisor of elections website allows voters to track the status of ballots: the date of the request, the date the ballot was mailed and confirmation of when the supervisor's office received the completed ballot.
"It gives you peace of mind," Corley said.
