Dear Ms. McGeehan,

I have read an account on Fox news recently regarding the safety of electronic voting machines. The researchers who conducted the testing were with the U.S. Department of Energy, Argonne National Laboratory.

The ease with which electronic voting machines are “hacked” or tampered with concerns me very much. The reports state that someone equipped with $26 dollars of parts and rudimentary knowledge of computers could change votes from a distance of half a mile. This is very troubling.

Paper ballots have been used successfully worldwide. I strongly urge a return to paper ballots which can be stored and examined years after the vote is cast. Electronic storage is possible, of course, but is much more susceptible to tampering or loss. If storage concerns are raised, the same space that is currently used to store the electronic voting machines can be used to store paper ballots.

Integrity of our vote is vital to our democracy. Please help us protect it.
