It only takes $26 to hack a voting machine X
X...http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2199957

Researchers demonstrated three different types of attacks

Campaigning for the 2012 presidential race has already begun, but what the candidates don't know is that come election day, hackers could be the ones whose votes have the biggest impact.

Researchers from the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois have developed a hack that, for about $26 and an 8th-grade science education, can remotely manipulate the electronic voting machines used by millions of voters all across the U.S.

The researchers, Salon reported, performed their proof-of-concept hack on a Diebold Accuvote TS electronic voting machine, a type of touchscreen Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting system that is widely used for government elections.

(Diebold's voting-machine business is now owned by the Denver-based Dominion Voting Systems, whose e-voting machines are used in about 22 states.)

1. A looming nightmarish perfect storm for more brazenly stolen election(s) in 2012.
In my humble opinion, it will only take ONE more brazenly stolen election (can u say 2012?) at this point
to push the nation totally beyond the point of any "return" to anything like the America we've known.

Imagine -- if you can -- 4 yrs. of Rick Perry.

Seems like exit polls have been "dismissed" and deemed irrelevant by the M$M to the point where it's unclear
if anyone will even do them anymore (tho I'm not clear on this admittedly .. anyone else know?)

PS - I did google around to try to see if Zogby will continue to do exit polls for major media to ignore
and dismiss; but saw no reports or articles about it.

2. Optiscan Voting Machine Hack Test for your review
Video - Optiscan Voting Machine Hack Test for your review
This test was performed in the office of FLA's Leon County's Supervisor of Elections, Ion Sancho. A hero in the election reform movement. Ion is an independent, and all of our electeds in this area should be non-partisan. This is now how the entire state of Florida votes, and we have a very inadequate audit system to verify our vote. These machines are now used all over our country, except in Minnesota, where they STILL hand count the paper ballots. Please watch the testimony and video example below:

And no nooze would report it!!!

One man's private, sole source company programs 81% of the election in New Hampshire, 100% in Connecticut, almost all of Massachusetts and most of Vermont. Never before seen video of the under-the-radar elections contractor John Silvestro as he tangles with master security expert Harri Hursti. For the full version of the hack see the 80 minute HBO film "Hacking Democracy"

3. Just an election year that they didn't have to manipulate the vote count as much
Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 12:36 AM by kster
we witnessed a year that the organization (our government) had to have a dem win, to make it appear we have a choice.

I really don't know who's daddy he is, google it.

4. As these machines are so hackable, what would happen if
Anonymous or some other organization deliberately hacked into these machines to such an extent that they cannot be used at all in ANY election. Then we would have to "go back" to paper ballots to insure fair elections, wouldn't we?
