Rev. Jesse Jackson calls for election investigation in Ohio
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 09:43 PM by Faye
(*bad original headline!)

Just saw this in the Breaking News forum:

http://www.onnnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=2614285

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson said he plans a Sunday rally in Columbus with ministers from around Ohio to call for an investigation of election irregularities in the state.

Jackson and his Rainbow/PUSH Coalition civil rights group want to call attention to the fact that votes in Ohio are still undergoing the official count, he said Thursday. Jackson also is questioning whether enough voting machines were provided in inner-city precincts and whether fraud could have occurred in counties that use electronic machines without paper records of ballots.

President Bush beat Democrat John Kerry in Ohio by about 136,000 votes, according to the unofficial tally. Kerry conceded there were not enough outstanding votes to sway the election his way. Counties have until Dec. 1 to complete their official counts, including verification of 155,337 provisional ballots cast in the state.

15. IT'S ABOUT TIME JESSIE JACKSON OPENED HIS MOUTH!!!
Jessie!!!!!!!!!!!

Where have you been all this time. It's the RIGHT thing to do. THOUSANDS of minority votes went down the toilet this year. They kept your people, women, poor and well.......everyone from voting and that is not right.

I THINK VOTING DAY SHOULD BE A NATIONAL HOLIDAY. A day set aside so everycitizen can do their duty....their God Given Right to Vote!

25. Rev. Jackson has not been quiet.
The mainstream media simply does not cover Jesse, because they know that if the public hears him speak, they tend to believe him. If Jesse is in Ohio, and has a few hundred supporters show up, the message is marginalized. If it's a few thousand, he gets a 45-second spot on the news. But if everyone who believes there has to be a thorough investigation of the "possible" election fraud were to show up and support Jesse, the truth can not be hidden by the media. It's not up to Jesse alone: it's all of us together.

20. The Good Reverend Jesse Jackson
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 12:36 AM by Stand and Fight
I have always liked Jesse Jackson, and I had figured that it could not believe -- in the long term -- that this election was fair and square. I know I am already wracking my brains for a way to be able to attend this protest in Ohio. Are there any DU members up there who could play the part of host/hostess and let me and maybe my wife crash at their place?

PM me if anyone could lend a helping hand -- also, I don't know if my wife would accompany me, an I'd love to carpool wiht somone who lives in my general area -- I live in Lawton, Oklahoma.

24. Jesse Jackson is a powerful man.
We know that some people were planning to have a "sit-in" to protest the fraud in Ohio, but were intimidated by federal authorities. Jesse represents a higher authority, and he will not back down. At a time when America needs someone who can help to heal the great divide that has caused bitter separations within families, neighborhoods, and communities, Rev. Jackson is going into the lion's den. As this unfolds, it may become vital that patriotic Americans go to Ohio to stand with Jesse, and to be a witness for the truth.
