Economic boycott of Fl and Ohio – partial list of what NOT to buy

Here’s a partial list of companies with corporate headquarters based in Ohio and Florida. A lot of these companies are big time Republican contributors as well. Boycott their products!

1. what will this do exactly...

I fully understand the concept of a boycott, but the list is so long, it's kind of hard to even do it. I am a vegetarian for the very reason of boycotting the meat industry, so please understand I completely *get* boycotting, but lists like this just will not get followed on a large scale, and therefore will not be noticed. I kind of think we or someone should focus on financial companies only or some other way of paring it down to a few companies at most.

2. If you're going to try to boycott

At least target the right groups. "All of Flordia" and "all of Ohio" gets about 50% Dems. Really good job there.

5. Exactly. At least make sure the companies actually donate

to republicans. Otherwise, you are perhaps proposing to boycott some poor company in OH or FL that donates to Democrats.

11. What I think is Totally Wrong With These Types Of Requests

Is that we are here at DU to SAVE DEMOCRACY. Well Guess What? The right to vote republican is part of what democracy stands for! I may not agree with the concept of supporting the repub party, and may hate the fact that certain companies help fund the efforts, but that's their damn right ain't it? I think acts such as boycotting based solely on the fact that they supported a candidate we didn't is completely counterproductive to our efforts and hypocritical. I thought it was absolutely absurd when the right wing said to boycott heinz ketchup. Thought it was pathetic.

If we believe in Democracy, then we believe in the right for whomever to vote for whoever they choose, or fund whoever they choose.

Now the people I am pissed at is the media, the people who pulled this off, the people that plotted to pull this off, the people who cast blatant lies and deceit to the American public, the President and his cohorts for their criminal actions and war crimes, and the election officials that condone the practices of fraudulent behavior, corruption, and supression.

I just don't see how boycotting anyone or anything because of their party affiliation is beneficial to Democracy...

Gas prices, here, have been $1.95 for months. Kroger opens a gas station and sells gas for 1.78 with your Kroger card. I gotta fill up every day...I can't afford this boycott. But I'll give you Outback...as much as I love the place...we don't have one locally so I can give it up easy enough...lol

14. I think this is kind of silly too...

Not EVERYONE in Florida or Ohio voted for Bush. And what about Texas? If they had voted for Kerry he would be President. There are no "red" states, only "purple" states. I think a better idea for a boycott rationale would be to use the SEC to get financial reports on company execs.... and use the FEC to look them up as donors.... And write profiles for different companies and offer "blue" alternatives based on HARD evidence of where their money and where their leadership's money goes rather than just the state their HQ happens to be located in.
