(5 December) Happy 70th Birthday to my favorite Author
James Lee Burke, the father of the awesome Dave Robichaeux series and his cute, loveable sidekick clete. If you wanna read about crime and the social climate of New Orleans and surrounding areas, just pick up a James Lee Burke (Robichaeux) Book.

1. I love James Lee Burke.

Especially the Dave Robichaeux stuff. I had no idea he was seventy, though his pictures on the book covers make him look like he's somewhere betweem 50 and 200. He just released a new Robichaeux work I hope to get for Christmas. I can't say the same for his daughter Alifair (yes, just like Dave's adopted daughter). I just waded through a novel she wrote, and I wasn't impressed, sadly.

2. If you are referring to "Pegasus Descending"
make sure its on your Christmas list. A very fine work indeed as Dave and Clete age "gracefully." And there is a big ole hurricane off shore meandering about. Dave knows how to put words together. Yeah, I read alafair's book. Not so hot, but unfortunately she will be compared to her Dad. And you are right about that picture between 50 and 200.

3. Another fan
Every late spring, I keep an eye out for the next James Lee Burke novel. I even bought one his bait shop t-shirts from his website.

I wasn't impressed with Alafair's book either.

4. James is working on
the next Robicheaux book (deals with the aftermath of Katrina per his website) and he will have a collection of short stories published in 2007 called Jesus out to Sea.

I gotta get me one of them baitshop hats.
