Aloysius Pendergast.
Is anyone else a fan of this enigmatic character in the Lincoln Preston/Douglas Child novels?

2. Yes! Most definitely.
My daughter and I both are. I understand, however, that he will not be returning. We will miss him. My favorite book is "Still Life With Crows" followed closely by "Cabinet of Curiosities". His character took on a life of his own quite independent of the authors, or so it seems.

3. He is in at least three other books that I have read more recently.
Brimstone, Dance of Death and the Book of the Dead. Plus, he is in the one linked below that is coming out this summer. I'd HATE to have Pendergast disappear.

4. We started with Relic. Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child have quite the collaboration going on.
I think Pendergast was in Relic in a minor way. His character grows in importance as the books develop. Characters from one book often show up in others, or not. I'm glad to hear he will be back. The last line in "Book of the Dead" was quite the teaser. But I did read somewhere that they were going to drop Pendergast. The books with Pendergast: Relic, Reliquary, The Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death, The Book of the Dead. Check the back part of a hardback copy of The Book of the Dead. The authors have a "suggested" reading sequence. That is the way we read them because of their publication dates, we were always looking forward to the next publication.

Happy reading. :)

5. I didn't really get into the last part of the trilogy.
I found myself not really caring about him,his brother,or anyone else. And it's strange because I liked the first two parts, but by the end I just didn't care.

The last part wasn't a bad book by any means (I read it in one sitting for crying out loud),but for some reason I was bored with the cat and mouse stuff this time around.

It also may not have helped that I had just finished a book before by my favorite writer (Kim Stanley Robinson) so anything was going to be a letdown.I'll still gladly read their books, though.

Cabinet of Curiosities is still my fav of theirs.

6. Yes, I love him!
I always look forward to the next book in the series-- hope the rumors of his demise are greatly premature.

7. Absolutely...I'm currently rereading "Dance of Death" and have my copy
of "Book of the Dead" ready to start.

Just another eccentric old southern family.....

8. I am also rereading "Dance of Death"....
But I seem to have lent our "Book of the Dead" to my family. And I want to reread that, too.

9. A fan here
My favorite is Still Life with Crows. I was wandering around Amazon the other day and I think I saw a new Pendergast book called "The Wheel of (something, something)" coming out at the end of the summer.

10. Wheel of Something
It's The Wheel of Darkness and, according to Amazon, it's due out August 28. I haven't heard that Aly might die! (Yes, we are on a first-name basis.) I hope it's not true, and I think a large part of Preston/Child's book sales would die with him.

My favorites are also Still Life With Crows (what a cool name!) and Cabinet of Curiosities, because he is just so...wonderful...in them. Well, in all the books, but especially in these two.

Fear not, he doesn't. I've just finished reading it and it
rocks!

I just discovered him/them this winter, starting with Wheel of Darkness, and have been playing catch-up with the other books.

Great stuff!
