I found this little gem quite by accident as it was shelf eye level at the library. I didn't know it was going to be about a good-looking kid who's secretly gay, who bags food at the store, who likes to go to keggers, and has this relationship with his father and many widows knocking at the door so they could hitch up with the dad. It's been two years since his mother's car accident where her car plunged into the Mississippi River after hitting a patch of ice. But when Aunt Nora comes pounding at the door she has another tale to tell, and the kid's world takes another turn. From the neighbor who always shovels snow and weat a pyramid hat, to the kids he knows in school it's a laugh a minute. Takes place in 1978 and when it mentions all those awful songs that were popular back then it just makes me cringe.
