"Dear American Airlines..."

I'm just finishing this terrific novel by Jonathan Miles. I checked it out of the library last week.

The premise is fairly simple. A man, flying out to LA to attend his lesbian daughter's wedding, ends up stuck at O'Hare for hours because of a scheduling mixup by the airline. He's writing a nasty letter to American Airlines demanding his money back...but the letter turns into a rumination of his past and his relationships with his mother and father, and his ex-wife. "Dear American Airlines..." is a nice bit of writing.

2. Sounds interesting

I recall being stuck at a Florida airport for 8 hours. For fun we took the shuttle bus back and forth to the various terminals and went on the roof for a smoke. Yeah, fun...I wanted to sleep after a red-eye fight from LAX.
