Jess must stay one step ahead of the killers, who have volunteered to help the local authorities investigate the children's disappearance. Annie and William's mother is frantic, as the scheming officers try to persuade her the children are gone for good. A subplot involving a retired California detective pursuing the original robbery case adds too many extra characters and undercuts the suspense.

I picked this up from the library because I once lived in Spokane, been to Couer de Lane and through state to Montana. Plus Los Angeles and those bad boys at the LAPD. Written very well to say the least. UPS guys beware!

1. I read this one too....

I've read all of Box's novels, including every Joe Pickett book in the series so far. Everything he writes is well written.

I enjoyed BLUE HEAVEN, but I really like Joe Pickett and look forward to the next Pickett book to come out.
