I don't know how long this poll has been going on, but I love
the "The Devil & Miss Prym" it's a terrific
study on temptation, by Paulo Coelho, a Brazilian author. His
work is known over the world. My other favorites are To Kill
a Mocking Bird & Three Cups of Tea.

1. Lots, but I'll try to narrow it down.
The Years Of Rice And Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson
Red Mars/Green Mars/Blue Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson (hey, I like the guy!)
The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie
Let's Hear It For The Deaf Man by Ed McBain (any of the old 87th Precinct stories are great)
Red Dragon by Thomas Harris
Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 by Hunter S. Thompson
and lastly, every Kurt Vonnegut book.
