Just finished the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Soiciety

Pleasant enough. Practically read itself with a reader employed as just a page turner. It will make an excellent if predictable chick flick. I enjoyed the history learned, as I had no idea that the Channel Islands of Britain were occupied during World War II.

If I had a criticism it would be the inevitability of the love story and also that the various letter writers did not seem to employ unique writing styles, but all seemed to be written in the same voice.

It reminded me of Cold Comfort Farm in a small way.

I looked on amazon, and for some reason, people who liked this book also liked "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." I could not get interested in that book.

I did not know that the Channel Islands were occupied until I saw the movie "The Others." Nicole Kidman's character mentions the occupation. I looked it up after seeing the movie.

The Channel Islands have an interesting history. I think I would like to visit them, too.

5. This was one of those great books that is so easy to read.

It's almost a "palette cleanser" between heavier books. I really like it.

I am always looking for a way to describe the "nice" books I read between heavy ones. I tend to use the word "simple," which isn't really correct. "Palette cleanser" says it all. Thanks.

7. I REALLY enjoyed the first half of this book and thought the second half was okay - but

I do think it was a terrific read, even if it's a bit twee at times.

The correspondence between Sidney and Juliet is terrific.

It will make a good movie.
