I read Mists of Avalon a very long time ago but none of the other books. I looked for information on the series and found this at wikipedia:
valon Series - real-world chronological order:
* The Mists of Avalon (1979) * The Fall of Atlantis (1987) * The Forest House (1993) (with Diana L. Paxson) (also now known as The Forests of Avalon) o Mistress of Magic (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 1) (1994) o The High Queen (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 2) (1994) o The King Stag (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 3) (1994) o The Prisoner in the Oak (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 4) (1994) * Lady of Avalon (1997) (with Diana L. Paxson) * Priestess of Avalon (2000) (with Diana L. Paxson) * Ancestors of Avalon (2004) (written by Diana L. Paxson) * Ravens of Avalon (2007) (written by Diana L. Paxson) * Sword of Avalon (2009; upcoming novel) (written by Diana L. Paxson)
The series in order from beginning to end: (in-universe chronological order)
* The Fall of Atlantis (1987) * Ancestors of Avalon (2004) (written principally by Diana L. Paxson) * Sword of Avalon (2009; upcoming novel) (written by Diana L. Paxson) * Ravens of Avalon (2007) (written by Diana L. Paxson) * The Forest House (1993) (with Diana L. Paxson) (also now known as The Forests of Avalon) * Lady of Avalon (1997) (with Diana L Paxson) * Priestess of Avalon (2000) (with Diana L Paxson) (Starts sometime before Part 2 of Lady of Avalon) * The Mists of Avalon (1979) o Mistress of Magic (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 1) (1994) o The High Queen (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 2) (1994) o The King Stag (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 3) (1994) o The Prisoner in the Oak (audiobook edition of The Mists of Avalon, part 4) (1994)
Does this mean that in reading Mists first, I read the end of the series? And are the editions listed under the Mists of Avalon just parts of the book I already read, parsed out for audiobook production?
Thanx for any light anyone can shed on this for me. After reading Master of Verona, I'm looking for a good series of books to read that are time pieces like this.
