Just re-read THE OTHER by Thomas Tryon, after 30-odd years. SPOILERS




Of course, I could never forget the punchline, that Holland was dead, and Niles was the one doing the bad things.

The first time I read it I totally didn't see that coming. Re-reading it, I could see hints here and there before the part near the end where Ada confronts Niles about Holland's death. And, of course, that nobody except Niles ever "sees" Holland or interacts with him.

I highly recommend the book. Of course, if you've never read it, now the plot is spoiled for you. But you'll probably enjoy it anyway.

1. I haven't read the book
but I saw the movie as a child and it scared the dickens out of me.

2. I remember reading years ago and it was very engrossing.
Did Tom Tryon write Harvest Home? That was a scary book also.
