"Night of the Hunter", by Davis Grub (1953). A most excellent thriller.

Posedian Adventure, The, by Paul Gallico (1969) (Scarier than the movie and better too)

Hannibal: One man against Rome , by Harold Lamb (1957) Bantam pb 1962

3. I like to shop online at Abebooks. They have a network of dealers
in the US and overseas, and I have bought some Walter Mosley fiction recently - one of my favorite American authors lately.

Link to the Abebooks site: http://www.abebooks.com/

They have access to an incredible number of used books from cheap paperback reading copies to collector's editions.

I do my IRL book shopping at local thrift shops.

5. Honestly, I'm finding good old EBOOKS online.
All sorts of kicky stuff that's old and out of copyright from Gutenberg and other places. I walk around with an entire library on my iPAQ.

8. First editions: "Man of La Mancha," "Cass Timberlane" (Sinclair Lewis), and . . .
Why We Are At War by Woodrow Wilson. The latter still has the outer edge of the signatures (the printing forms) intact and uncut.

I believe I paid less than a dollar for each of the three.

13. Elements of the Differential and Integral Calculus - William Anthony Granville - 1904
I bought it for 25 cents in a second hand book store on either 2nd or 3rd Ave in downtown Portland (late 60s or early 70s). One of the best math texts I've ever used. I don't have a picture, but wiki has a reference.

14. I'm always looking for old WWII books in used bookstores
Beckham's Books in New Orleans is a great place to sort through old books in a musty historic old setting. My most recent find is Black May about how the allies whipped the German Submarine Force in the Atlantic in May 1943

17. I bought an old book from a used bookstore that was interesting
not because of the book itself (Caleb West: Master Diver, by F. Hopkinson Smith 1898) but because it belonged to the Soldiers' Library and still has the handwritten check out card in the back.... check out dates from the 1920's....you can still make out a lot of the soldiers names and rank.
