I've come to grips with the fact that I'm not going to be a vegetarian, but after reading this book I have vowed not to eat factory chicken or meat. Some of his descriptions of factory farming are beyond repulsive.

3. King of Heists by J. North Conway, A True Crime novel.

A True Crime novel.
I just finished it and I'll give a an "A" for a good relatively short read with a peek
at some of the most notorious robber baron figures of the Gilded Age.

Can ya give a quick description and grade, It would help with my reading list :)

7. I just got "Black Magic Sanction" in by Kim Harrison - I quit reading the The Terror halfway

through, it was actually quite boring IMHO.

10. It's taking me so long because it IS kind of boring, lol, but it was a Christmas gift from my dear

nephew so I HAVE to finish it. It's actually growing on me. But yeah, I think the publisher should have forced him to shorten it by 1/3.

I love all of the Bosch books, though. I've read 20 Michael Connelly books, but I think there might be a new one out there I haven't caught yet. Back to Amazon....

9. The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig.

I really do enjoy his books. He's such a colorful writer and takes you into his tales of long ago when Montana was first being settled.

I'm reading his book Mountain Time. I really love his books, too. I thank Dianne Rehm for doing a segment of her show on Dancing at the Rascal Fair for turning me on to him.

17. Thank You For Responding

I have tried reading this book three times already and haven't been able to get into it. All of my reader friends have had the same experience and we all love Kingsolver's books. Did you have any trouble at first?

18. It took me quite a while to get into the rhythm and to develop

a feel for Harrison. After I got past the part where he was at the military school in Washington and the bit about the Bonus Army, I was hooked and then it just got better and better. By the time I finished, I was amazed at the brilliance of the way the book was written. I'm going to read it again sometime soon.

by P.T. Deutermann Not far enough into it to grade it yet. But I have been on a Deutermann spree the last few weeks, hit on one of his books by chance and now enjoying more of his books.

Wow. I'll never look at Tony Blair (or Cherie Blair!) the same again.

23. As usual, several on the go or just finished

The Rapture by Liz Jensen - this is a must read. Great book if you're feeling good about things - it will bring you down. But what a wallop.

The Sign by Raymond Khoury - Great for all the conspiracy theorists among us. The bad guys had a pretty good idea, but they were really bad, repugnantly so. And the good guys were just so good. But a good action thriller.

Death Wore white by Jim Kelly - British police procedural, a little dull, but I like British police procedurals, so it's okay.

Treasure Hunt by John Lescroart - I don't think I've read any of his books that I didn't like. Good characters, good pacing.

The Last Surgeon by Michael Palmer - He writes doctor thrillers. Okay so far. They usually pick up pace as they go. This one has a strong anti-Iraq war thread, PTSD, etc.

Tried listening to Haiku by Andrew Vachss, but the narration was so appalling I couldn't get beyond that to the story. Disappointing. Give me his Burke novels any day. He and Jack Reacher (Lee Child) are among my favorite characters.
