Book clubs, reviews?

Hi :hi:

I'm a consulting editor for two titles at present, which I'm in the midst of promoting -- one non-fiction, one fiction -- and was wondering if anyone has pondered the idea of a book club recently? I think the last time we had a book club was in 2005 (though I could be way off with that and clueless ;)).

Also, is there anyone here who has a book review blog?

I'll be diving more and more into publishing as I work toward creating a publishing cooperative, with the approach that each and every title is paired with an organization to raise funds and awareness (what I call Community Philanthropy) and is truly member owned.

For example, for the two titles I'm getting ready to start promoting with this integrated approach, one of the fundraising approaches is that when book clubs purchase in volume through me rather than Amazon or other booksellers, $1 from each book sold will go to the local public library, as well as (2) free copies of the book donated to the library system for circulation.

This isn't something the publisher or booksellers are set up to do, nor really open to, so this is something I'm creating and implementing on my own.

If anyone is interested in any of this and wants more information, feel free to PM me.

You can visit my website as noted in the signature to find both titles and the other venture which involves this Community Philanthropy approach. :) The Google picks up on everything, so I don't want to list the titles in a post just yet, especially not until I get all my ducks in a row.

I always check with DUers as I'm putting the puzzle pieces together, however.

Thanks for reading. :)
