Anyone Else On A Waiting List For Franzen's "Freedom"?

I'm no. 29 on the list at my local library. Can't wait to read it---I'm a huge fan of "The Corrections".....

1. It's not in yet, but I logged it at No. 3 - On order
I'm not going to read it, not my type I don't think, but curiosity made me look it up. "The Corrections" makes me No. 2 on the waiting list and they have at least 4 copies.

(I checked on my place for "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo," and I've come up to No. 45 from No. 57 two weeks ago.)

4. I don't understand.
If you aren't going to read it, why did you order it? Or did I mis-read your post?

6. Just wondered if the book was as popular at my library
I just like to see what's popular, but not necessarily to read. Thought that it was interesting that he was No. 29 for a book I never heard of..

11. Our library's website
tells you how many holds are on a give book without having to order it to find out. For example, there are 122 holds on 15 copies of this particular book.

2. Jeez, I Really Know How To Pick Them, Don't I?

I sign up for "Freedom" at the library---then the Prez gets an advance copy on vacation and it makes national news, Franzen turns up on the cover of "Time," and critics are seeing how unanimous they can all be in deeming it a masterpiece (latest entry: this morning's NY Times Review Of Books).

Guess I'll spring for my own copy; no sense in being on that library waiting list until Halloween.....

5. I didn't know he had a new one out...
...and I, too, really enjoyed The Corrections.

...heading off to the library Website to see if they have it, and to get my name on the list if they do...

9. I Lucked Into A Copy Of "Freedom" At The Library.

I'm about 130 pages into it, and it is, predictably, superb. Try it, you'll like it.......

13. Finished It Today. I Think It's A Genuine Masterpiece.

I believe it's as good as "The Corrections," which is about the highest praise I can offer for a work of fiction. Enjoy.......
