Just a suggestion.

DuGosh started this list, far as I can tell, about 2 years ago. It was her idea and it caught on because we needed a place to bore people with our reading material.

Would it be dumb to do this - till she comes back? She asked YOU to do it, but I think you're a might shy to do it on your own - only when it's obvious she is not going to post that week? (like today)

1. Love books!

I have to read the history of Tom jones for class.
But for fun I'm going to read 10 days that shook the world by John reed.
And summer already arrived in San Francisco so I get to read outside.

2. I just finished "The Bretheren" and "The Summons" by Grisham. Wow...n/t

3. SORROWS ANTHEM by Michael Koryta

This is his second mystery, and it's better than his first. Lots of cop stuff, good cops, bad cops, etc.

I enjoyed it.

Shy is one thing I've never been accused of being. I've just been so busy all day, I totally forgot. Heck! I forgot it was Sunday because we've been off work so much this week due to the aftermath of the blizzard, I'm totally disoriented as to what day it is. :rofl:

I'm still reading A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, mostly because I've only had time to read when I go to bed. I'm making and selling earrings now, so that takes up most of my time these days.

Didn't look at your earrings yet, but I will. Steeler game on TV.

Also, daughter got a job (temp, but maybe for a year) with Verizon and she has me and her mother-in-law watching her 3-month old and 6-year old 3 days a week each. Don't know whether I'm coming or going any more.

7. Heaven's Keep by Minnesota-based author Kent Wiliam Kruger

part of a series about a part-Ojibwe sheriff in northern Minnesota, only this time he ventures to Wyoming to investigate the disappearance of the plane his wife was a passenger on.

I'm also reading the Insight Guide to Guatemala, Belize, and Yucatan. If I can't fly south for the winter, i can at least imagine it.

11. I read that, it was good.

I liked all of his books, but this one I thought had a happy ending, depending on one's outlook, of course.

I'm still alive. Thanks to everyone for filling in! My internet is still only so so. I will try to post the thread next week. I've been reading alot. Just finished Most Wanted by Michele Martinez = I'm reading Purgatory Ridge by William Kent Kruegar - It's a Cork O Connor book.

I got a PM from her. The weather completely knocked out her internet connection and it's still pretty tenuous. Thank goodness it was nothing more than that!

15. "Assasin" by Ted Bell

Audible had a special on first books in series (although this is the second book) so I thought I'd try it. I'm not in love with it but it's an interesting read - or listen in this case - for the most part.

17. Finished Winter's Bone and recommend it. Am now reading

Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides again (for my book group), although, having seen the movie, Barbra Streisand may have ruined it for me.

18. Now reading The Swordman's Oath by Juliet E. McKenna

Pretty slow-going so far.

Just finished an amazing novel by Amy Thomson called Storyteller. She has been compared to Heinlein and Le Guin. A futuristic tale about a colonized planet where humans communicate telepathically with intelligent, compassionate sea creatures. Reading this novel was an emotional, uplifting experience that had me reaching for the tissues at the end. It also displays good, liberal values which doesn't hurt! Highly recommended.
