Stephen King writes novel about JFK killing

NEW YORK — Stephen King's next novel takes on a real-life horror story: The assassination of JFK.

"11/22/63," the title named for the day of President Kennedy's murder, tells of a high school teacher's desperate effort to prevent the tragedy. Scribner announced Wednesday that the 1,000-page book will come out on Nov. 8.

Sorry, not convinced. I expect his JFK book to be a steaming pile, like most of his other books. Just my opinion, of course, and I acknowledge and respect the fact that lots of people with good taste like his writing. But I don't.

2. While he writes a lot of trash, he wrote some classics as well.

Think Shawshank and the Green Mile(both movies based on novels he wrote). I feel like a lot of his work is to pay the bills, and some of his work he spends a lot of time on and puts a lot of care into, like the two above mentioned pieces.

I'm not a fan of his books. His politics, yes, but not his books.

4. For my money the best thing he ever wrote

was The Long Walk, one of his Bachman novels. I wish someone would make a movie of it. Only a good one, not the usual crap that gets made from a Stephen King book.

5. His most recent, "Under The Dome" was surprisingly good.

I've had my problems with Stephen King over the years. For every gem like Carrie or The Shining, he churns out 10 piles of steaming sludge like From A Buick 8.

But "Under The Dome" was surprisingly tight and well-written, and one of the most purely "human" stories he's ever written.

The dude is smart as hell, and keeps re-inventing himself and his craft, and I actually can't wait to read his take on Kennedy.

Anymore he can be very inconsistent, but when he's working on all cylinders he is a master.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Under The Dome, especially after reading some of the works that preceded this. I'm willing to give this book benefit of the doubt.

There's a book on the 14-day loan shelf at my library by Tim Kring that has as its plot JFK being on LSD when he died. So imagine where King can take this topic.

8. i'm a little bit scared for this book as well

i'll read it but i think you would be hard pressed to compete w. a book like "libra" and there have been soooo many jfk/assassination books...i know his heart is in the right place but there's more to a good book than good intent
