Just finished DYING FOR CHOCOLATE by Diana Mott Davidson. |
|
One of the "Goldy Bair" mysteries.
While it was an OK cozy, I thought the book was too long.
I'd try another of the series, however.

1. I love the premise of her books and the storylines. |
|
But her writing seems pretty clunky to me. I get caught up in the poor word usage and sentence construction. In a well written book, I don't notice the grammar or construction at all, just fall into the story.

3. Funny, I didn't notice that, but in the Jake Tiptree series, by Sarah Graves, |
|
the author's use of made-up "ly" words drove me nuts! For example, "crimsonly."
That was a while back so MAYBE the author's gotten better about that.

2. I've read most of her books |
|
I live here in Colorado so it was fun since she mentions local places. But I returned Fatally Flaky to the library unfinished. It was too long, too, at over 400 pages.
If you read the series it's good to start with the first since Goldy's life changes a lot over the course of the series.

4. I have made a few of the recipes that she includes in her books |
|
and they have all been delicious.
