2. Confirmed: GRRM is a sadist

I mean really, look at the world he has created. It is dark and full of really evil people, a place where eleven-year-old girls can kill people without really feeling too much about it.

As much as I an truly enjoying his writing, I do think he's got a bit of a sadistic streak in him...

Because what this means is that for the next umpteen number of years, fans of aSoIaF get to wonder in what form Jon will return and by what method.

(unless the OP is a joke and Jon is not really dead)

3. He's definitely a sadist
The scene with Jeyne Poole, Theon, and Ramsey Bolton... GUH.

4. I finished the book recently, spoilers in this post
I don't think we know for sure that he is actually dead, he could be just very badly wounded. Even if he is dead, I doubt we have seen the last of him. Remember Catelyn Stark was killed at the red wedding, but was brought back to life by the red priest/ knight in the brotherhood without banners. Melisandre is supposed to be the most powerful red priest, so resurrecting Jon should not be much trouble for her. I don't think his story ends here. We'll just have to wait and see.

5. Since we're spoiling it, let me vent (questions for those who are finished)
1. Who is Coldhands? He can't possibly be Benjen Stark, because Bran would have recognized his own uncle. So who is he, and why is he good (or at least, not trying to kill Bran and the others)?

2. DIE IN A FIRE, TURNCLOAK. Theon deserved all he got and so much more. I hated what happened to Jeyne Poole (GRRM is a twisted little monkey), but Theon, the rat bastard...flay away, Bastard, flay away!

3. Ser Barristan Selmy is the man. His agonizing over his "failure" at Harrenhal was heartbreaking.

4. I haven't been back to check, but wasn't the khal who found Daenerys at the end a former member of Drogo's group? Maybe I didn't read that part closely enough.

5. I like the cut of Connington's jib. Did anyone else have a hard time following who was who-in-hiding during the river trip?

6. Was that Mance and the spearwives at Winterfell during the rescue of Jeyne Poole?

7. The final revelation, that Varys' "little birds" were the children of the castle, sent a cold chill down my spine. One of the creepiest things yet in the series, IMO.

7. From memory
1. Could be Benjen. Didn't he have a hood on that covered his face? I don't really remember, but it seems that he did.

4. Yes. He was one of Drogo's bloodriders, I think.

6. Yes. They were the people committing the murders, with the exeption of whichever of the Walders that got killed. According the them, anyway.

6. I don't think Jon is dead..altered, maybe....but not dead.
Course, with this series...anything goes.

Most likely he survives the attack. (One way or another)

I do think Jon plays a larger role to come though.

I don't think him Ned's son....though definitely a Stark.

Can a warg inhabit a dragon? :)

Fire and Ice.

Stark and Targaryen.

Who knows?

Can't wait to find out.

8. Two things I didn't notice when I read the book, but seem obvious now
First, when Arya killed the guy with the coin. I didn't realize she had noticed him biting every coin to make sure it was real, and then slipped a poisoned coin into his customer's purse. In retrospect, that should have been really obvious, but I didn't pick up on it until I read it on another forum.

Second, and somewhat less obvious is what was really in the "pork" pie that Wyman Manderly so merrily served at the Bastard's wedding at Winterfell. It was Frye pie. I didn't realize that, either when I first read it.

I should really read these books more slowly, especially since they only come out every six years.
