8. THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER by Sharyn McCrumb

Second in series about Spencer Arrowood, Appalachian sheriff, in the Appalachian Ballad series. Takes place in Tennessee.

I can't remember where I found this author but it was a good find....

Had a good time, but got very tired. Was it my imagination or are the quilters getting younger, maybe I'm getting older?

Amusing piffle for us SciFi readers.

I still cannot, for the life of me, see Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Yuck!!!

13. Inside central asia, by Dilip Hiro

Political and cultural history of the former Soviet Stans.
Surprisingly, this is a hot read. I waited months for it from my library.

14. The Fallen Man, by Tony Hillerman

I like Leaphorn and Chee.

I read them all. I hate that he died.

You might try some Charlie Moon, a Ute Indian in Colorado, written by James D. Doss.

He has some of the stuff that Hillerman wrote about - the dances, legends, etc., but with a bit more humour. There's at least one laugh in every book but the first, and some weird plots.

Moon, friend Scott Paris, and his Aunt Daisy are characters in my favorite series.

What if there was a rapture-like event and you were a "leftover"? This deals with the many ways people cope with loss.

18. DANGEROUS UNDERTAKING by Mark de Castrique

About Barry Clayton, a cop who has to leave his job in Charlotte to help take care of the family business in Gainsboro - undertaking - because his dad got Alzheimer's and his mother needs help with him and the business... father fairly young - only 55. Main characters all likable.

Clayton becomes involved with helping the sheriff solve some crimes. I'm almost at the end of the book (around 200 pp). Not bad, will probably catch the next one.

This takes place in North Carolina mountains.

19. The Power Of Six

Dunno why I picked this one up. But I loved the first book so I really enjoyed this one as well. Can't wait for the next one.
