M C. Beaton gives us Hamish MacBeth in Scotland. Christopher Fowler's Peculiar Crimes Unit series has Arthur Bryant and John May, and takes place in London.

These are just a couple of the foreign authors that I really like...

Oops, I forgot Louise Penney's series that is set in Quebec, featuring Armand Gamache, Chief Inspector.

His latest was recommended on Audible. I haven't read any of his work before.

It seems the foreign authors have more plot, more interesting characters, and a bit more humour..



I'm curious that "Scotland Yard," is in London..hasn't anyone noticed that :) :); I thought the Scotch didn't like the English, so why's the Yard in London?

It's like the Mosque in Jerusalem, but without any antagonism.

Why am I so dumb that I can't figure it out? Looked up Scotland Yard and there's too many sites to find one that explains its name, or why Scotland doesn't want its Yard back where it belongs...in Scotland? :crazy:
