I'm currently reading Mark Helprin's "Freddy and Fredericka"
The author of "Winter's Tale" latest book is a funny satire of the British royal family. It is quite funny...and also shows the love of language characterized by Helprin's writing.

If you're a fan of Mark Helprin, you may want to pick this one up.

1. good post
I don't know if I'll ever get to it I have so many books to read, but I'm always up for suggestions. Sounds good.

2. It is hilarious
I scared the cat I was laughing so hard. I loved the exchange where he was looking for the dog "Pha-Kew".

3. Helprin and comedy?
I've read most of his fiction (and some of his political stuff), but never thought of him as a comedic writer. Hmmm...

4. I know...none of previous books were particularly funny...
Paricularly "Winter's Tale".

But "Freddy and Frederika" is laugh out loud funny. :-)

6. I just picked this up and the little kid is cracking me up.
Oh my, this is really quite good so far. The falcon and the royal requirement is quite interesting. The princess is absolutely LOL over the top as compared to her stolid mate. It does bring up the real life parallels.
