And this is from a fiction book.
"As a lobbyist, he had long ago concluded there was no difference in how Democrats and Republicans conducted the business of government. The game stayed the same. It was always about favors and friends and who controlled the dough. Party labels were merely a way to keep track of the teams. Issues were mostly smoke and vaudeville. Nobody believed in anything except hanging on to power, whatever it took."

From SICK PUPPY, by Carl Hiaasen.

The general public doesn’t hold fiction reading in high esteem, but you can learn a lot from fiction. I guess I’m preaching to the choir here.

1. Have you ever read a "Parliment of Whores"?
Same theme, nonfiction, and funny in the bargin. P. J. O'Rourke slices up both Democrats and Republicans in that book.

4. ANY O'Rourke is Great.....
but when he discusses U.S. farm subsidy programs while a cow is artificially inseminated has to be one of the funniest chapters ever written....

7. I just read that book a couple of weeks ago.
Funny, I noticed that very same part - I felt like underlining it. :D

13. I don't know that this is the choir.
Unfortunately, many Dems are unwilling to face their own party's subjugation to Big Money. The Republicans perfected it, of course, but those on the left side of the aisle have been doing their best to emulate them.
