Corinne Holt Sawyers' mysteries with detective Caledonia Wingate and Angela Benbow are two of my favorite mystery series. Anybody know of any series that are similar to those two?

1. Do you mean that you're looking for "cozy mysteries"?

If that's the case, here are some of my favorites:
M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin series (which should be read chronologically)

Sharon Fiffer's Jane Wheeler mysteries about an antiques picker

Patricia Harwin's mysteries. After divorce, a retired librarian in her 60s, moves to the Cotswolds.

Sarah Graves mysteries. She writes about a Financial District professional, Jacobia Tiptree. She moves to Maine, buys an old home and is raising her teen son, Sam, after her divorce.

2. I guess that's what I mean. I like mysteries without graphic

violence, graphic sex, maybe a little humor along the way.

I love the cozies.

Here's another tip for you if you like Yahoo Groups. I don't participate much but get lots of ideas for cozy mysteries from this lovely group. When I'm stumped for a new author, I peek in here.

It's a busy group, so I joined using the "no mail" option and read the postings on the web as I have time. They don't drop people from the group if you aren't a regular. Nice people. Also, they don't just read first books. They've moved from that to reading entire series when there's interest.

Especially the series by Sawyer. It sounds like it has two female co-sleuths; is that right?

Let's see: cozies have an amateur as a protagonist, don't they? Some series I like:

the Midnight Louie series by Carole Nelson Douglas (features a Las Vegas PR woman and her detective cat Midnight Louie). The Katherine Le Vendeur series by Sharan Newman (set in medieval France, also with a female sleuth who's an ex-novice who's left the convent and married). Both series have developed an interesting group of secondary characters in the course of the several books.

That's all for now. Can think of lots of other favorites, but technically they're not cozies 'cause the main character is a police officer or a PI.

Oh, and the yahoogroups list sounds interesting; I'll look it up (not that I need to be on any more lists :)

Yes, Corinne Holt Sawyer's books have two female amateur sleuths. They are elderly women, residents of Camden-sur-Mer, a retirement community in California. They assist the local police with murders of residents and staff.


In the Faith Fairchild series, Faith is a caterer/minister's wife/amateur sleuth who helps with detecting in murders of community residents. Her best friend Pix Miller is the detective in at least two of the series that I know of. There are recipes included in these books.

I recommend both these series to readers of cozies.
