Finished "The Collector" by John Fowles. |

During Miranda's part in the book, I couldn't help thinking about some of her observations as applying to the Bush Crime Family now. Chilling read. I remember seeing the movie years and years ago. Glad to have finally come around to reading the book.

1. I worked on a movie many years ago with Samantha Eggers |

who played Miranda in the movie. I was a mic operator at the time and was checking levels and such when I overheard her on the wireless mic telling the most horrible story - turns out it was the story of "The Collector" - I hadn't read it at the time. John Fowles is one of my favorites, and so is Samantha!

2. Interesting story. Thanks for sharing that. |

I saw the movie the year it came out - before I left my midwestern town for the glories of the SF Bay Area. I think I'll have to put it in my queue @ Netflix (if it's available).

John Fowles put out a revised edition later. Minor changes that I noticed. It's on my list of top reads.
Now that he's passed away, I wonder if they'll publish anything he had socked away in his drawers.

5. I assume that sick bastard in Austria (who had kept the girl captive)... |

had a copy of the book. I have been noticing for a number of years that quite a few serial killers and sex criminals owned copies of "The Collector", but I have never seen this pursued by the experts who study them. It is a brilliant piece of work, but I assume those degenerates did not love it for its literary excellence.
