Fiction book uses bush to make a point
Almost done with John Sandford's "Broken Prey." Typical Sandford, blood and guts, really bad, bad, bad guys and the heroic Lucas Davenport. Highly recommended to all who like a good bloody murder(s) yarn.

In a discussion about the use of DNA, Sandford adds this nice little point:

"The state DNA bank made a big deal out of getting samples from all convicted sex criminals. Besides after the rash of crime scene investigator shows on TV, half the TV watchers in the country know about DNA. Hell even george bush would probably know about it."

That just about sums up what he is good for.

Well, living literature figure. Uh, living crime writer, fiction. Anyway, we like him, lots. The man can turn a phrase and did a nice job here. thanks for posting it, I'll have to rack down Borken Prey.

2. I totally enjoy Sandford's "Prey" Series
Been reading them at least ten years, Broken Prey is rather sexually and violently graphic; but what the heck, that's Sandford. It kind of a chuckle. I live near New Orleans where violence and mayhem is commonplace but when I read Prey books I'm thinking, my god, all the sickos are in Minnesota - the sign of a good writer.

conveniently located next to a seedy, hourly rate motel, but they have not been on prominent display. Prisoners in solitary who like to get naked and masturbate for the cameras and throw semen at people (and not all of them are locked up.) It must be those long, cold winters.

5. Reminds me of Terry Pratchett.
In one of his books there's this UFO from another planet landing at NASA when the vice president happens to be visiting, and the NASA scientists are busy trying to explain to the vice president what a "planet" is. This would have been Dan Quayle.
