"Gaia Girls"

Okay, this is a cross post because I realized that maybe the Environment/Energy forum was not the right place to talk about a children's book series. Bear with me, ok?

The books are written for ages 9 and up, but I want to read them, too! I read about them at Treehugger.com today.

The new logo for the Elements (below) is not a pentacle, so that removes any excuse for accusations of "witchcraft" or "satanism" from the fundie freaks. However, as Gaia is represented as "the living entity of the Earth," I'm sure they'll figure out some way to attack that premise. Anyway, it'll be fun to watch for controversy coming up.

2. I'm going to order it for my kid and read it too!

Sometimes the children's books are just better. Case in point: We had two book on Woody Guthrie and the kids book had more photos and info than the adult version. I've gone to the kids section on history of the Revolutionary and Civil War and by cracky if they aren't the best sometimes.

I'll check it out. I'm always on the lookout for more great stuff for the 11-14 age range that my students fall in.
