Demon-Haunted World
by Carl Sagan. Who's read it? What do you think?

I'm about 150 pages into it, and keep being blown away at the prescient points made about the role of religion and pseudoscience in public life.

1. Loved it
haven't read it in over 5 years, but I remember being blown away as well. Maybe I should dig it out for a re-read.

3. Re-read not a bad idea
Especially as we're watching our country become a theocracy, led by people who believe the devil is behind everything they don't agree with.

2. I've read it twice. It's incredible
I also recomend:

Why People Believe Weird Things by Michael Shermer
Billions and Billions by Carl Sagan

Unweaving the Rainbow by Richard Dawkins (just skip the chapter about his computer-simulations of artificial life).

7. That's how I first heard of it
It's required reading for some of the science classes at the community college where I work.

8. "Real Patriots Ask Questions"
Is the title of the final chapter in this book. I want that on a bumper sticker -- especially relevant to the thread in GD about why Americans are so hostile to science.
