1. Two you missed !
"Wealth and Democracy: A Political History of the American Rich" by Kevin Phillips see http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Kevin_Phillips/Wealth_Democracy.html

and the equally incendiary

"Perfectly Legal: The Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich - and Cheat Everybody Else" by David Cay Johnston.
see www.buzzflash.com/interviews/04/03/int04016.html

Fiscal issues are quickly becoming the Achilles Heel of the conservatives.

4. I finished reading this last week......
pretty interesting, I must say. It reminded me a lot of Fahrenheit 9/11 (this is NOT a spoiler), in that it was mostly stuff I knew or had a sense of, but seeing it organized in one place made the point in a more compelling way. I found his ruminations a bit on the reductionist side, but all in all, I would definitely say that it's worth reading (book group or not) and will raise your awareness.
