Anyone try audio book "clubs" online?
I love to listen to audio books. I prefer unabridged versions but if I can't find unabridged, I've been known to listen to abridged versions.

I've pretty well run through what is available in my city. The library and the bookstore that rents audiobooks (on tape and CD) and I'm drooling over some titles available through audio book clubs like Audible. Some even have rental systems like Netflix but for audio books.

Has anyone used any of these services? Happy with the terms and selection? I'm thinking about joining one but admit I get confused when I search around the web and end up giving up.

I rarely listen to an audio book twice and the prices for purchase are so high I can't justify the expense of buying one for just one listen.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

1. Try Audible.com
It's reasonably priced and offers a wide variety of unabridged books.

2. It's hard to tell from their website how much each title costs
it lists "non-audible member" prices, which seem high. Is it cheaper if you join? Have you tried them?

Thanks.

3. simplyaudiobooks?
http://www.simplyaudiobooks.com/

I've been a member of this club for the past month. It's very similiar to NetFlix in that they send CD's or MP3's within a day or two of receiving your last rental back. I've been able to get several audio unabridged titles that were prohibitively expensive to purchase even in MP3's. However, two of my selections had serious scratches on them and had some difficulty playing some tracks. Overall, too soon for me to heartily recommend but definitely worth a look. Best of luck.
