I was kind of disapppointed. It wasn't nearly as compelling as I thought it would be. A black guy growing up in Nazi Germany? It sounds like the stuff of nightmares but it read like a coming-of-age-during-the-war book where the protagonist just happened to be black. Nothing in the book stayed with me. I pretty much forgot everything after I read the last page.
