"The Sins of Scripture". What’s your opinion of it? I think if its a good book it can be used to help fight fundies with ammo from the Liberal Christian point of veiw.

1. End Time Delusions by Steven Wohlberg is a good one
along with the weblink

The Catholic Origins of Futurism and Preterism
http://www.aloha.net/~mikesch/antichrist.htm

futurism = the Left Behind eschatology. BTW, most of the CIAs leadership from its founding have been Knights of Malta. Donovan, Casey, McCone, Dulles, Angleton, and Operation Paperclip's Gehlen.

Hal Lindsey, of Late Great Planet Earth fame is said to be a CIA consultant.

Prior to WWII the historicist view held sway with most Protestant denominations. How the Jesuit futurist view came to be predominant may have something to do with the Third Temple requirement of the futurists....

2. Yes, I read it.
Thought it was great, but then I think anything John Shelby Spong writes is great. I don't know about using it as ammunition, Fundies are so closed minded. These Liberal Christian ideas have been around for some time now, Fundies have had a chance to "know the truth and be set free. " Alas, they have declined.
