What political book should I buy?

I plan to buy this book, The Sins of the Scripture by Bishop Spong.

I need to buy something else to get free shipping. I prefer something about the abuses of Bush et al. I'm thinking of Losing Iraq (the expose of how the neocons fucked up the reconstruction), but I'd like other suggestions.

1. I'm reading Robert Reich's REASON right now

and it's great. I highly recommend this book.

3. Homegrown Democrat by Garrison Keillor

Easy read but will remind you why you vote for democrats. Said it before and I'll say it again, should be required reading for all voters.

Short, easy read but you will find yourself nodding in agreement through much of the book.

10. I read this book

and didn't like it much. I wasn't keen on all the "back in my day" stories. But I kept hearing good things about it, so I picked up the audio version and listened to it in the car as I drove around town. I loved it. I listend to the first 2-3 chapters over and over again. Check out my signature, it is from the book. I got a bunch of quotes from the book and many of them are laugh out loud funny.

try "The Bush-Hater's Handbook"

(actually an extremely well-documented and well-written catalog of Dubya transgressions, organized by topic).

7. George Orwell "Why I Write" is the best political book i have ever

read. It takes a broad sweep of politics and society, from the corruption of language by polticians to the need for socialism.

The quote on the front is

"Political Language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and give an appearance of solidity to pure wind"
(Ring any bells?)

The insights you gain from this book will never leave you. it was written in part during WW2 but the paralells with today are frightening.

Buy it buy it buy it. Orwell is a genius. If you can't i'll send you my copy, in fact i'll bring to you on foot. If there's one thing you should ever do it is read Orwell
