1. This is a real "Eat your Broccoli" kind of list
Does anyone realy want to go to the beach with Metternich, Castlereagh and Henry Kissinger?

3. for beach reading, please see
"Fiction" forum. ;) Although, I've been known to read Dostoevsky at the beach so that might not help much.

Seriously, though, the Non-Fiction book club has read books as short as Lakoff's "Don't Think of An Elephant" - this just happens to be a heavier list than usual. Why not wander over to "Nonfiction" and suggest a book for next month?

2. I'm interested in International politics
most of these seem like more US navel gazing, which I've read plenty of already.

4. I read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man"
with the DU book club (okay, I was a little behind the curve, but I did post in that thread eventually!) and it gave me an appetite for more international offerings too. Maybe suggest a title for future book club months?

5. Somthing that I haven't read yet but I should
will serve as my suggestion

The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs

http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/item.asp?Item=978159420045&Catalog=Books&Ntt=End+of+Poverty&N=35&Lang=en&Section=books&zxac=1

This, outside the US is the hot button issue: 3rd world (and first world poverty) and how to really, finally, completely end it. If this issue had been addressed a decade ago there likely would not have been a 9/11, a war on terror, a war in Iraq, possibly not even a Bush administration. Who knows what horrors can be prevented in future decades if the world agrees to do do something real this time.
