I just finished it and was wondering if anyone wanted to chat about it a little bit.

I really enjoy this forum but don't come here much. I love to read and have read alot of non-fiction books since I found DU.

I am just getting ready to start 'The Outlaw Bank A Wild Ride into the Secret Heart of BCCI.

But that 'People's History of the US' sounds awesome. May have to pick that one up this weekend.

2. No....sorry...but a very good friend of mine

who has passed used to tell me about this...he was very much into conspiracies. When I read your headline, I thought to myself....'Oh, Lon would have been in heaven with all the conspiracies of today.' But he is already in heaven....or maybe already reincarnated....

BCCI....John Kerry put pressure on that....and he never mentioned it during his campaign.

Tell me the highlights of Pope JP1....OK?

4. Well as you can tell by the title it is about the murder of JP1

He was this beautiful, humble Christian man who unwillingly became Pope John Paul the First. He wanted to revert the church back to a poor church for the poor. He wanted the change the Church's position on artificial birth control. He wanted to remove Freemasons in the heirarchy of the church. In the 33 days that he reigned he started a quiet revolution. There were many people threatened by the changes he had just begun to implement.

The book goes on to describe the 6 powerful suspects, their motives, means, and opportunity. It involves the Mafia, a Masonic Order (P2), money laundering, bank fraud, heroin trafficking, and the Vatican Bank.

3. It's been some years since I read it

but I'm up for discussion -- I doubt I can recall enough to start any points, but if you pipe up I'll bet I can respond fairly coherently.

5. Do you remember out of the suspects who you decided was the

murderer. Or did you arrive at the conclusion that it was a conspiracy of 2 or more of them.

6. Conspiracy

I think the big movers were Calvi, and a cardinal in Chicago (was that Cody?), but certainly wouldn't rule out participation by others.
