1. Excellent book.

I love reading the ones by or about the Republicans who have 'experienced' the ineptness and hubris of administration first-hand. An eye-opener for those who do not hang around DU, and a great source of info for those of us that do.

My big takeaway was how he wanted to help the poorest Africans by developing water resources - not with giant, massively expensive water treatment and delivery systems, but just by getting simple wells dug and piped that would reliably bring clean water to the surface. A very small investment (couple of billion, as I recall) that would do untold good for those at the very bottom of the subsistance chain. Preventing disease is just the top of the list.

Great guy and a great read. :thumbsup:
