Trail of Tears
Can anyone suggest a good book about the trail of tears? How about a good documentary?

1. There's always "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee."
by Dee Brown.
it's probably the best overall U.S. history book from the native americans' point of view, and if i recall at least a chapter is devoted to the trail of tears.
a very powerful must-read book in any case. heartbreaking.

2. Have you tried googling Cherokee history?
There must be many doctoral dissertations and masters theses on this subject that were subsequently published in academic presses. Probably not huge sellers outside academia, but you might try a search on the Library of Congress holdings.

4. Here's a good link: Chronicles of Oklahoma
http://digital.library.okstate.edu/Chronicles/bookshelf.html The bookshelf is arranged by years. The last groups, including Chief John Ross (who lost his beloved wife Quadie on the march) went during the winter of 1832, I think. You should be able to pull many related links from this site.:hi:

13. Hey, my parents both enjoy children's and young adult literature
And they're both in their mid to late 70s. I keep recommending titles, and they keep reading them.

12. Look here:

Found quite by accident as I was looking up some info on the movie "White Feather" that was on AMC Saturday morning. Beautiful setting, filmed in Mexico.
