It's great. There are some seriously progressive athletes and former athletes out there. Carlos Delgado has an incredible story that goes back much farther than God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch. David Meggyessy's story is incredibly inspirational.
Anyone who cares at all about sport and progress should read this book.

1. Funny, I never thought about linking progress and sports. |
|
I guess It's one of my preconceived idea. Jocks = right= macho=narrow minded people.
Thank you for pointing out that sport and progress can be linked. Gives me more hope cause I know that the American people respect and admire their athletes.

2. It is a great book. I read it last fall. |
|
And I don't care for sports basically. The chapter on the guys in the 1968 Summer Olympics, Ali and Pat Tillman were especially insightful.

about their being expunged from the record books. It's also made me rethink the treatment of Bonds. And putting Kobe in the context both of the incredibly insane criminal justice system in the US AND then putting the victim in the context of the incredibly insane way women are treated was so much more interesting than anything the MSM said about that case during the millions of hours they addressed it.

3. I finished reading it a few weeks ago... |
|
it was one of those books I read in 2 days because I couldn't put it down. There were so many great stories in it, some that I was familiar with and others that I had no idea about. The chapter about Carlos Delgado gives me one more reason to root for him!
It's definitely a must for DU sports fans to be sure
