ARMED MADHOUSE; Isn't Anyone reading IT.
I am, but I don't blame you it's so god-damn depressing. But if you want reality read it, it's not just our problem it's the whole world's problem... It is the most upsetting book I have ever read; but I'd rather be informed than ignorant. Armed Madhouse makes sense out of the chaos of Bush and Co..

1. I get to read it after my wife finishes it.
Is that why she is in such a bad mood lately?

4. Amazing piece of work
I think it should be required reading for every slack jawed, mouth breathing right wing nut who actually voted for the BFEE.

The really scary thing about the book was that we already knew how evil they were, or thought we did, and still, my eyes were opened in a major way by this book.

I URGE all DUers to read this book. Yes, it was extremely disturbing, but I would much rather know the truth than live in the dark.

-chef- (who always knew Bush would never lay a finger on OBL, now I really understand why)

7. I'm reading it.
It sure puts the shenanigans of this administration in a different and more terrifying light. It also makes Ann Coulter's "issues" with the godless liberals look like marshmallow fluff.

9. Finally finished Armed Madhouse. It's kind of depressing, but no one can
say that Greg Palast doesn't have a sense of humor! I was aware of much of what he wrote about. Surprised by his take on 'peak oil' until the last chapter which made a lot of sense. The inter-connections of the 'players' made me think about all the comments and writing during the Whitewater Investigation nonsense....every RW'er was saying how 'shady' Clinton's Arkansas connections were! But the Republicans have much deeper interdependencies than anything in Arkansas! His chapter on what happened to voters (read minorities) before and during the 2004 election was great..wish I knew how we can stop 3 million votes getting 'tossed'. The chapter on how we're being driven to the bottom as workers through globalization and privatization is extremely sad to me, who grew up with the New Deal.

Wish everyone would read this book, along with 'Stealing Jesus' by Bruce Bawer.

10. I read it and donated it to my public library,
I thought everyone who could reason should read it. Palast always does a good job of exposing the corruption and criminality of the Bush/Cheney/Rove administration.

11. I powered through the first 86 pages last night....

...would have kept going but I realized it was 1.00 am and I need a little bit of sleep in order to function at work....

I don't think it's depressing per se, true enough it is mind-blowing to see just how rotten the whole apple is, but it is more eye-opening than anything else...

Very informative, bone-chilling, and almost impossible to put down...

12. Very good read...
Palast investigates and exposes some spine-chilling schemes, plots, and crimes of the Bush-War Regime and its international cronies.

From Publishers Weekly
Palast (The Best Democracy Money can Buy) is a refreshing, fearless witness to the American political landscape-and he doesn't really care whether or not you like him for it: "I am not a nice man. You want something heartwarming ... buy a puppy." Though Palast comes right out and calls George Bush II un-American ("'Greg, you have no respect for the office of the President.' No, I don't. Not one iota."), the author is not another TV or radio personality with an axe to grind. A former corporate fraud and racketeering investigator, Palast is an economist and investigative journalist, and his arguments are based on research and fact. At once scary, infuriating, fascinating and frustrating, this book covers almost all the controversial political territory of the new century (see the subtitle), including Hurricane Katrina. Palast believes that this crucial period has put every working citizen's rights at stake-"from the Wage and Hour Law's 40-hour week to the Clayton Antitrust Law"-and his well-reasoned outrage makes a convincing case. Unfortunately, Palast is short on solutions; the only actions he advocates are signing up at his web site and voting the bums out-even though, as Palast points out, Bush already "lost the election. TWICE."
