From 1946 to 1950 she was tutor to Crown Prince Akihito , of Japan.

From google , I found out that she was a very influential person in his life .The book is very descriptive ,and an easy read .

2. I'll have to check it out.
I'm halfway through Donald A. Keene's lengthy biography of Emperor Meiji.

Now I'll have 8 books to read. Like I have the time. Thanks. It's not even listed on Amazon.

On edit: A Quaker too! She seemed like a terric person and the Japanese Ambassador would come by on her birthday in a limo with flowers. I'm looking forwad to reading this book. Since you have the name of one of my all time favorite novels I knew you would'nt lead me down the road of a boring book, so thanks.

her style is so cool, you feel like she is just talking to you sometimes.
