God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens. Anyone else here read it?

I know, I know...it's Christopher Hitchens, but that said it's a very well written book and I enjoyed reading it. I found a few errors and considered writing him, but they are so small in the scheme of things that they do not take away from his larger points.

Christopher also exposed Henry Kissinger many years ago, so he certainly beats his own drum.

In this book, he has probably burned his last bridges within the Republican party.

This is not a book for those who cherish their superstitions.

I must say that I rather enjoyed spending my few evenings with Christopher as he made his case, and his sarcasm was simply delightful.

I do recommend this book.

I surprised myself and bought his book and like you enjoyed it as much as anything I've read this year. If he hadn't done the Trials of Henry Kissinger, then I might not have given him the benefit of the doubt. I'm really glad I read his book.

He's come up a notch with me (which is saying a lot!).

Actually, he comes off most humble in his respect for science and for those who have suffered because of religious intolerance and cruelty. It's no wonder it's been on the Best Sellers list for so long now.

Christopher might roll over dead if he knew he'd been favorably reviewed at a leftie website. He wrote a very good book here.

I'm no Hitchens fan either, but I found the book almost addictive. I think it's simply a great book.
I recommend it highly.

10. I thoroughly enjoyed it,

To those who are stacking their bookshelves with the recent atheist tomes, this is a nice addition because it takes a somewhat different track than previous books. Hitchens gave a lot more attention to the social effects of religion as opposed to an attack on religion on the basis of reason - which I feel is well deserved.

Moreover, whatever you think of the man (Hitchens) he is an excellent author. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the topic.

11. I am ambivilant about Hitchens

The expose of Kissinger did a lot to vindicate him , God is NOT Great does even more to elevate him in my estimation

12. Well I'm not a big fan of him on a personal level.

He does seem to crawl into the sack with the neo-cons on an unnerving number of occasions. I do think that the value of an author's work, however, can be taken on a case by case basis.
