Truck - A Love Story by Michael Perry
A fantastic read about a guy in Wisconsin who wants to restore his 51 International Harvester Truck, find a date and have a successful garden. Doesn't sound very exciting but his self deprecating humor had me in tears reading it last night. If you want to laugh out loud (especially if you are 35ish to 55ish and chuckle at your previous hairstyles) put this one on your Christmas list.

I discovered him when he was a guest on Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.

1. great author
I really enjoyed his book "Population: 485" which chronicled his job as a firefighter/EMT in small-town Wisconsin. Great storyteller.

2. I will be getting his previous works
He remains an EMT and firefighter in his current book and the characters carry on. The guy's a hoot and was great on Wait, Wait.

3. I just got back from his reading at a local bookstore
He was fantastic!

Had a nice short talk with him afterwards, and got 4 books signed too!

He's a really nice guy, a talented writer and a very funny story teller.

:hi:

4. The Truck Story
touches all the bases. Lots of laughs, lots of sadness, lots of introspection. Definitely the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer with but according to the book he don't drink (except O'Doul's.)
