4. I noticed several years back
when W was new on the job, there seemed to be a lot of libraries receding! Maybe that was a state thing, but I think his new view of the world helped push it along. Since he doesn't read books, he thinks no one else should! Bastid!

6. Actually, legislation was put through for more funding of libraires and museums.
Thanks to Laura Bush.

Libraries closing is more of a local issue - cities and counties cut library budgets when times get tough. Fortunately, librarians are a hearty lot and make great strides to educate the public enough to get these kinds of cuts reversed. Of course, they're not always successful.
