Went to the bookstore at lunch where a guy was putting these out

on the shelf. On the back is a review by Jon Krakauer, who's book I read: Under the Banner of Heaven about a year ago.

Escape provides an astonishing look behind the tightly drawn curtains of the FLDS Church, one of the most secretive religious groups in the United States. The story Carolyn Jessop tells is so weird and shocking that one hesitates to believe a sect like this, with 10,000 polygamous followers, could really exist in 21st-century America. But Jessop’s courageous, heart-wrenching account is absolutely factual. This riveting book reminds us that truth can indeed be much, much stranger than fiction."
Jon Krakauer, Author of Under the Banner of Heaven, Into Thin Air, and Into the Wild

I was going to get Into the Wild but it's such a thin book I didn't want to spend $15 on a few pages. Then I got this book and after bringing it back to work looked at the back and saw what he had written.

I had intended to get the new book "Human Smoke..etc." but when I opened it I noticed there was a lot of white space, like, you know the book could've had less pages with less white space so I thought I'll just wait until the my copy on hold at the library comes in.

1. She was interviewed on MSNBC a few days ago; hers really was
an escape. She was none too complimentary about the group. Talked about the kids not having a singular mom, but many, and how severe the discipline was. A child of hers saw one of the FLDS women interviewed on TV, and freaked; it was the same woman who disciplined so severely. :scared:

2. Krakauer is an excellent writer, and...
Under the Banner of Heaven was an excellent work. I will have to check out Jessop's story; thanks for the heads up.
