"A time to Die" (Sinking of a Russian Sub) |

Nice retelling of the sinking of the Russian Sub Kursk in the Barents Sea in August 2000 and the failed rescue effort to save the crew. Also, Putin's first test of leadership. This book made me glad I didn't serve in the Russian Navy where safety and rescue operations weren't anywhere on the priority list; although our ugly black eye came with the Iowa disaster.
Recommended for those interested in Naval History.
The book by Robert Moore was published in 2002. Just another gem I found while meandering through a musty old used bookstore

1. It also explains well how you die in a sub. Technical but accessible to the novice. |

Very well done for a book done so quickly, or at any pace.
