1. My brother in law gave it to me for Christmas but I haven't
gotten to it yet. It looks like a wonderful read, but I've had a knee high stack to get through first. :hi:

2. Loved it
I'm a big Patti Smith fan and know a fair amount about her and her work. But "Just Kids" was a journey into her teenage and early years, and I knew very little of it. It's fascinating to read how she and Robert Mapplethorpe got together and stayed close until his death. It's revealing to see how meager her early New York existence was.

I'll stop there because I don't want to spoil anything for you. Patti Smith--in addition to being an important progressive voice and great artist, is an excellent writer as well. Enjoy.

7. "Rock 'n Roll N***er" randomly came up in iTunes...
...as I was clicking your thread title!

I was given a copy of "Just Kids" for my b-day, and just read the first 2 chapters yesterday.
Funny how things happen...

11. Loved it. What a wonderful window into 60's NYC and struggling artists and musicians.
She is a wonderful writer -- also see her interview with Charlie Rose.
