Been over a week and the film is moving along. Have gotten two composers on tap and ready to score. Luckily this is shot "Cloverfield" style (without the damn shakeycam, that really frustrated me, think that was overdone, kept feeling like the cameraman was suffering from the DTs.) We will have that point-of-view look, but lots less shakeyness.
We have a working title. Actually I came up with it on off the cuff. I was doing a newspaper interview for the movie along with the fact we had linked up with another production company to do this and other projects, the reporter asked me the movie title. So I made it up on the spot. Had been so wrapped up in the logistics and brainstorming an overall marketable concept I forgot about the title.
"The Black House Recordings" is what I came up with. Hopefully it's rather evocative.
Starting to work out with the camera stabilizer rigs, in the film we will have the 2 camerapeople jogging about, however we will really be using for the most part the stabilizers, except when I want it to be shakey :).
Setting up the computer farm, our IT dude has made the pronouncement we can do this on two upgraded PCs. We have both come the conculsion the film will be 2.5 (or so) terrabites in storage. Triple that for all the raw footage and rough cuts and the fudge factor.
Writing team is burning rubber to finish the script, so we can have a rough draft by months end.
Lets see, setting up the editing platform, Adobe is my favorite using the master suite plus about 40 plugins that I like.
Unlike my last movie, should be very little gunfire in this movie (I hope, I am waiting with baited breath to see what writing does with my concepts, and see how much needs to be rewritten). In my first movie we shot off 8 thousand blanks. Would come out of a shoot covered in cordite and drenched in sweat (the stage was running 110 with lights, fog, people, generally was hell) Would like a little more low keyed movie this time.
Although its a horror movie, I really want to stay away from heavy gore, unless its to establish a point, say, like the creature is slightly bad tempered, hence shredding someone. I prefer the Japanese aproach, develop a really good atmosphere of fear, so thick you can cut it. Then the creature's appearance becomes almost an emotional release for the audience.
Well that it for this week, will chat next week about our 1st official production meeting which is this coming tuesday.
And now for your listening pleasure, not to mention great eye candy, the group "Bond"
